DEGASSING

The presence of certain gases dissolved in water (CO2, O2, H2S, NH3, etc.) may sometimes present disadvantages for its use.  Desorption or cold stripping is technology which involves extracting the gases dissolved in the water to be treated to run them in gas phase. A drive gas with no gas to be extracted is used for this. The water to be treated/drive gas are put into contact by counter-current in a ring-lined column or on a membrane to obtain a large and compact exchange surface.
