CLARIFICATION

Clarification is the preliminary stage in any treatment of raw water. Clarification comprises an initial coagulation/flocculation stage, carried out by injecting specific chemical products (iron or aluminium salts, acrylamide-based polymers, etc.) which agglomerate the particles together to give them a size and density sufficient for them to be removed from the water to be treated. This separation is carried out in a second treatment stage by decantation or flotation, depending on the density of the particles to be eliminated.
